Ingredients

    1 cup softened butter                                           
    1 1/3 cups sugar                                                
    2 eggs                                                          
    3 cups flour                                                    
    2 teaspoons cream of tartar                                     
    1 teaspoon baking soda                                          
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract                                      
    1/4 cup sugar                                                   
    2 teaspoons cinnamon     

Directions

Preheat oven to 400. Mix together flour, cream of tartar and baking soda. Set aside.
Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one a time, beat in vanilla. Reduce mixer speed and mix in flour mixture until well combined.
With your hadns roll the dough into small balls, about the size of a large walnut. Roll the balls in the cinnamon/sugar mixture to coat and place about 1" apart on a large baking sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes or until tops of cookies are lightly golden and somewhat crinkly. Remove from oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool after a minute of cooling on the baking sheet.
